The invention of computers kick-started the information age. And thanks to the benedictions of time we are now going through; we managed to survive the onslaught of covid19. After the pandemic emerged, our entire planet was thrown into a neverending lockdown. And with every emerging strain of the virus, the situation worsened. The Homestuck population demanded more efficient services at their doorstep. And the essentiality of the same suddenly gained paramount importance due to the absence of conventional purchase options.
The risk of extinction rose so high, that dedicated roles were introduced in the commercial ecosystems. The responsibility of handling data and making a good sense of it is given to business analysts and data analysts. A business analyst is expected to be a good manager able to decipher large data sets and set goals for the institution. With additional qualifications to manage and help a team grow. In addition to that, a business analyst makes sure the flow of information among the different divisions of a commercial entity is intact and extracts of analytics are put to good use.
A data analyst deals with all kinds of data. Unlike a business analyst, a data analyst can be deployed even before the commencement of any kind of business. A data analyst can take climate weather and population spending data and give a potential product the essential touches. Even for the pricing and packaging, the prescriptions of analysts are taken into account to statistically reduce the risk.
Stages of analytics
To understand the blessings of analytics in detail, we must understand how it works.
There are three main stages of analytics –
Descriptive – in the case of descriptive analytics, an analyst tries to structure the data into something comprehensive. So that further analysis can be done. Many machine learning tools utilized in analysing the databases requires a certain format in which the data is presented. Or maybe just for descriptive purposes, this stage is carried out.
Predictive – during this stage the analysis is performed. And the results are scrutinized with a critical eye. And based on the results, conclusions are drawn, in the form of predictions.
Prescriptive – As the name suggests, this stage concerns planning future actions. The actions are to be taken per the predictive conclusions achieved in the earlier stage. And the planning must include a guide for both external and internal operations to follow and perform in the same rhythm.
The recruitment mindset
A data analyst, as mentioned earlier, can deal with any kind of data. Which can potentially affect any aspect of operations to any unpredictable degree. Often the role of a business analyst is rendered redundant by the yields from a data analysis team at its prime. But managerial skills can only flourish with experience. And in this field, most of today’s business analysts excess and outdo the data analysts. Additionally, many data analysts lack the sense of commerce and sometimes can come up with prescriptions utterly unrealistic. This realism can only be visited from the helm not from a table at a secluded corner of the office.
Data analysts with experience are the gems of the commercial universe
Thus fresher data analysts are required to go through rigorous hands-on training. So that, when the real responsibility is upon an analyst they don’t invite calamity. Thus commercial giants tend to hire more data analysts and a relatively lower number of business analysts to balance the reality with the realms of numbers and charts. But the companies trying to grow from the very scratch tend to avoid hiring business analysts and data analysis greasers with no experience. Hiring an experienced data analyst solves both the problems of numbers and management.
Author’s words
For the enthusiasts, it is always wise to relocate to cities with a thriving commercial scene. And take up education in analytics there. During the education phase, a budding analyst can avail of hands-on training, if need be in the form of volunteer internships. It is wise for Indian students to look for data analytics courses in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai for maximum opportunities. With additional prospects of guidance from the settled data professionals thriving alongside the commerce in the city.
But due to the menace caused by COVID-19, students must try to find the knowledge online as well. As in many cases, in-person training is not an option anymore. It is highly recommended to do thorough research beforehand. Investing any hard-earned money. Discussions with the alumni, faculty and reviewers must be included in the routine while looking for such institutes.
